Ask for a Rain Check!

Don't you hate it when you get to the store to pick up those sale items on your list only to find out they are completely out of stock? Well, don't forget to ask for a rain check! I have always thought to do this at the grocery store, but I only recently began to ask for them at drug stores and other retailers. Most stores do offer them. Just make sure to ask at check-out, and have the store's ad with the sale price in hand to show the cashier. The store will usually give you a specified amount of time to use your rain check, often 30 days from the date of issue.

Today I had to stop at Walgreens to pick up some batteries for my computer keyboard, and I remembered the rain check I had in my coupon binder for deodorant that was on sale last week. It was no longer on sale, so they had plenty in stock. I also had two high value manufacturer coupons, so I was able to get the deodorant free. I just handed the cashier my rain check with last week’s price written on it (2/$3) and 2 manufacturer coupons ($1.50 off each), final price free!

Just keep in mind that rain checks will not work for Register Rewards at Walgreens. Store policies vary, so the next time the store you are shopping at is out of stock of the item you want, I recommend you ask how their work.
