Make These Cookies with Cheap Skippy PB from Fred Meyer

I mentioned earlier that you can get Skippy Penut Butter for 49¢ at Fred Meyer through Saturday.  I decided to try a really easy penut butter cookie recipe I just found in Parents Magazine.  It is seriously the easiest recipe ever!

Easiest Penut Butter Cookie Recipe Ever:

Ingredients:
1 cup penut butter, smooth or chunky
1 cup sugar, plus more for rolling
1 egg

Instructions:
1.  Heat oven to 375 degrees.  Mix together penut butter, sugar, and egg in a large mixing bowl.
2.  Roll dough into 1 inch balls.  Put some sugar on a plate and roll balls in it to coat.
3.  Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
4.  Press each ball down with a fork to make a crisscross.
5.  Bake for 10 minutes.

How easy is that?  They taste pretty yummy too!

You can find out how to get Skippy for 49¢ and about todays one day sale at Fred Meyer here.

On a sidenote, do you ever feel like a criminal for rolling Register Rewards at Walgreens?  Generally, my experiences are good.  But, occassionally I run into rude cashiers that make me question whether doing so is really worth it. I had one such cashier this week, and this happens from time to time.

Of course when I review my saving the answer is clear, so I will continue to roll those Register Rewards.  And, fortunately most cashiers are friendly and helpful.

Target: $5 Off 4 Packages of Kellogg's Cereal!

Update: I found out that the Kellogg's coupon is a manufacturer coupon, so it can't be stacked!  Darn, but that does mean you should be able to use it at any store!
I noticed that Target has some generous new printable coupons available on their website, including one for $5 off of 4 boxes of Kellogg's cereal!  Stack it with Kellogg's manufacturer coupons and that should make some for some inexpensive cereal, especially if it goes on sale.  You can get Target printable coupons here, and multiple Kellogg's coupons here and  here.  There are some other great printable Target coupons you can stack with manufacturer coupons, including:

  • $1/2 3-ct.  Secret Popcorn (stack w/ MF coupon from 11/8 SS)
  • 50¢/1 Argo Corn Starch (stack w/ MF from 11/8 SS)
  • $1/2 StarKist® Pouch Products (stack w/printable here)

Local Toy Drives

There have been so many great prices on toys this year!  It gives us deal seekers a wonderful opportunity to share the fruits of our coupon clipping labors with those in need.  I hate to think of any kids not getting to enjoy the holidays, so I decided to list some local toy donation sites and opportunities!

Seattle Seahawks Charity Toy Drive:  Several Seattle professional athletes have teamed with Westfield Southcenter, Fed Ex Office and Octagon Football to host the 2009 Seattle Seahawks Players Toy Drive benefiting Seattle Children’s Hospital.  It is being held on December 14th from 6pm to 8pm at the Westfield Southcenter Mall.

The 4th Annual Great Toy Drive is being held through December 13th and is sponsored by KING 5 News, Regence Blue Shield of Washington, McLendon's Harware and the Boys and Girls Club.  For more information go here

Quatlity Inn & Suites Seattle Center is hosting a toy drive December 3rd and 10th.  All toys are given to Toys for Tots and the Boys and Girls Club.  You get a free Santa photo when you donate.  More information is available here.

Sleep Country's Secret Santa Toy Drive is going on now until December 13th also.  This toy drive is benefiting local foster children.  For more information on this toy drive go here.

US Army Toy Drive has multiple drop off locations in  the Puget Sound Region that you can find here.  This toy drive is also benefiting Children's Hospital.

I'm sure this is just a drop in the bucket of donation opportunities out there.  I know many local churches and community centers are collecting toys as well.  Secret Santa.org  also has a directory that you can enter your zip code into to find a toy drive near you.

Don't Throw Away Your Expired Coupons!

Don't you hate throwing away expired coupons?  I know I do, and I always have a ton at the end of the month!  Well, I recently found out that overseas military families can benefit from them, as they are able to use them at their commissaries for 6 months past the normal expiration date!  I'm sure most seasoned couponers are aware of this, but if this is news to you (like it was to me), you can get more information from the Krazy Coupon Lady's website here.   She has the lowdown on how to package them and where to send them to.

What a great way to help support out troops!

Cyber Safety

Cyber Monday is here and hot deals are advertised everywhere.  I wanted to share a few tips to protect yourself while you do all of that fun and convenient shopping from home!

  1. Make sure you are ordering from a secure site. Check the URL for “https” and look for a lock in the bottom right hand corner of the page.
  2. If you have never heard of the store or the deal sounds too good to be true, check the Better Business Bureau website (here) before ordering.
  3. Check the return policy and make sure you understand it before buying.  You don't want to get stuck with something you can't return!
  4. Always keep a record of what you purchase.
  5. Remember that debit cards aren’t protected under the Fair Credit Billing Act, so credit cards are the prefered method.  The max. liability with a credit card is $50, with a debit card it's up to $500!
  6. Use a variety of search engines such as froogle.com and shopzilla.com to find the lowest prices and to make sure companies aren't just paying to have their sites listed in searches.
