While I was at Safeway today looking for the manufacturer coupon book I mentioned yesterday, I picked up a new one that I found out about last night from Happy 2B Frugal It is a booklet titled "Make It Tonight: Simple, Affordable Meals." Inside there is over $20 in store coupons including:
$1 off any one Wish-Bone Salad Dressing
$2 off any Bertolli Dinner for Two
$1 off any one Kraft Shredded Cheese (frequently marked down)
$1 off any one I Can't Believe It's Not Butter
$1 off any Hellman's or Best Foods Mayonaise
$2 off any 2 Coca-Cola 6 pack
$1 off any one Triscuits
75¢ off any one Kraft Salad Dressing
75¢ any one Philadelphia Cream Cheese
These Safeway store coupons are valid thru 2/28/10. They do state "Minimum $20 purchase qualifies you for all coupons. Cannot be doubled." No doubles in my area, so no problem. From my understanding the $20 is before Safeway Card discounts and coupons. You can read more about their storecoupon policy here. These store coupons can be stacked with manufacturer and eCoupons for some awesome savings!
I was also able to find large stacks of the Safeway manufacturer coupon booklet with loads of coupons you can use anywhere, at two stores I checked today. If you haven't seen them at your store yet, I bet they will be coming soon! Just be thoughtful and only take one :)
I mentioned earlier in the week that Safeway is having a hot General Mills/Betty Crocker Promotion. Today I was able to make a quick trip. It didn't turn out exactly how I planned, but I still ended up getting a great deal. I'll explain what I got first and then explain what didn't work out!
I only did one transaction today:
(4) Betty Crocker Fruit Shapes:
(2) Betty Crocker Fruit Gushers
(2) Boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios:
Spent: $2.60 using manufacturer eCoupons, paper coupons and the promotional discount.
Earned: $3.50 off my next order catalina= Moneymaker!
For details on how you can get this deal see my Safeway Promo post!
I actually tried to do a second transaction using the $3 Off Quaker Manufacturer coupon from the Fred Meyer Extra Savings Guide. But, the cashier questioned it and would not accept it because it would not scan. She said that it is Safeway policy not to accept internet coupons that will not scan, so she would not accept any MF coupons that wouldn't scan either.
The second problem was that Safeway coupon policy prohibits the use of coupons that are more than half the value of the products being purchased. I was trying to buy Quaker Instant Oatmeal at $1.50 per box after the instant discount. My coupon was for $1.00 off, more than half the value of the oatmeal. The reason I was able to do my first transaction was because I had a different cashier who wasn't aware of the policy (and I didn't realize it either). I did a little research and could find a policy for printable coupons and a policy for store coupons. The printable coupon policy states "We will not accept Printable Coupons for more than 50% of a product's value." I assume this is the value after all other discounts. Very disappointing, and a little goofy in my opinion considering the manufacturer reimburses the store!
I bagged the second transaction, even though it would have still been a great deal using the $3.50 OYNO catalina, as I already have about 20 boxes of cereal in my pantry. I figure I can use the catalina on meat and save the oatmeal coupon for Old Fashioned Oats, which I prefer. And seriously, how can I complain when my first transaction was a moneymaker!
Yippy! I finally found the hot new booklet at Safeway with loads of great manufacturer coupons inside. On the downside though, it was the only one I could locate in the entire store. (I don't know if some unscrupulous shopper snagged them all.) Hopefully your local store will be fully stocked so that everyone can get one. Make sure to check in the personal care isle when you do your shopping! They should be located at Vons, Dominick's Randall's, Carrs and all the other Safeway affiliates too.
Here is some of what you will find inside:
Save $2 on any Huggies Little Movers of Little Snugglers Diapers
Save $1 on any Huggies Baby Wipes
Save $1.50 on any Sucrets product
Save $2 on any Bayer Aspirin Product 50-ct +
Save $2 on any J&J First Aid Product
Save $1 on any Neosporin or Band-Aid Product
Save $1 on any Selsun Blue Product
Save $4 wyb any 2 various McNeil Products
$1 Off any 18oz Act Flavor mouth rinse or mouthwash
$1 Off any L'Oreal Preference Hair color
$1 Off any Neutrogena Product
$1 Off any Lubriderm Product
I'm curious if anyone else has had trouble locating these? If so, I would love to hear about it!

Keep an eye out for a hot new book with loads of manufatcturer coupons in it when you do your shopping. I couldn't find it at my store and the cashiers had now idea what I was talking about when I asked, but I've heard lots of reports that people have been finding them in their stores.
The cashier alsmost didn't allow me to use the free brown sugar coupon. I told her that the website states that $20 must be reached before club card savings. She was reluctant, but allowed me to use it anyway. Make sure to print out a copy of their policy before you go shopping just in case you run into the same problem. You can go here to get it. Thanks again Maybe Frugal!
Maygan at Maybe Frugal has found a great deal on cereal this week at Safeway. You can get 4 boxes of Cornflakes for 25¢ each! Here's how:
Cornflakes: 99¢ each when you buy 4
Use $1.50/2 here and here
Final Price: 25¢ each!
If you print 2 coupons from each link twice to get 8 boxes of cereal for $2. Even if your family won't eat that much, healthier cereal makes a great food donation!
Don't forget to snag your free item when your total reaches $20 (before club card and coupons). Thanks Maygan!

I love FREE item coupons! When I signed up it took about 20 minutes for them to show up in my email. They are printables that don't expire until Feb 2010.
I paid 61¢ out of pocket today for all this today using the $19 in catalinas that I received last week! I was happy because I didn't have to use any other coupons! My total savings was $34.65!

I've haven't shopped at Safeway much in the past several years, because their prices seem higher than other grocers, but I had to take advantage of this deal!
I am so grateful to Maygan at Maybe Frugal for links to more $1 Off Can't Believe It's Not Butter Coupons! You can get the four pack sticks for free at Fred Meyer, Albertsons, and Safeway right now if you factor in the $2 catalina you will earn for every two packs you buy! Make those eCoupons works for you! I'm not much of a Safeway shopper, but they have some great deals right now using eCoupons. I got all this for $3.35 with tax. Total Savings $19.03. Here's how it worked:

Looking at my receipt, the register subtracted an extra $1.00 in eCoupons, and I'm not sure how! This does make up for me not having the $1 off pop coupon though!
