Total this week: $35.56 and I have $6 in register reward for next week.  I am at $246.11 for the month, slightly over my allotted budget of $240.00.    I do plan to buy two more fryer breasts tomorrow in preparation for my upcoming freezer cooking day, which will push over even more.  My goal was a little low, so I'm not sweating it.  I'm very pleased with my total savings for the month of $523.42.  It makes it so worthwhile to spend the time each week clipping coupons and finding deals!
Update:  I've noticed that my totals don't from my savings tracker don't make sense.  I should have been a little under budget.  I'm going to have to do a little research and calculations today to figure out why.  To be continued....

Freezer Cooking Day: March 1st & 2nd

I can't believe it's time for freezer cooking day once again.  It's my second time, and I honestly can't be to overly ambitious because I simply don't have the freezer space.  I still need to invest in an extra freezer, but other things have come recently so I haven't been able to.  Somehow I will make my little combo freezer fridge work.  I plan to clean and reorganize it this weekend in preparation.  Maybe I will switch up my menu plan and try to use up some of the dinners I still have from last month's freezer cooking day.

Money Saving Mom and Life as Mom are hosting this day of "fun" and frugality March 1st and 2nd (Monday & Tuesday), and you can play along by following on Twitter (hashtag #oamc) or Facebook here.

Here's my tentative plan so far:

  1. Spaghetti Sauce with meat for 3 dinners (Thanks for the idea Jane!)
  2. Meatloaf Minis in muffin pans (24)
  3. Slow Cooker Chicken for shredded meat (One each day)
  4. Hamburger with toco seasoning for 3 dinners

I hope to find a muffin recipe to try too.  My family is getting a little bored with banana nut and raisin bran muffins.  Anyone have a good recipe they'd like to share?

My shopping list is really easy this time, thanks to a pretty simple menu plan!

  1. Hamburger 10 lbs: On sale at Albertsons for $1.99/lb (butcher block) or QFC ($1.66/lb, but prepackaged, which I don't really like as well).
  2. Chicken Fryers (2): on sale at Fred Meyer for 79¢/lb (Foster Farm, my preference)
  3. Eggs: 18 ct on sale for $2 each at Fred Meyer (decent price, and I need to bake a cake today.)

I may be tweeking my plan a little bit over the weekend.  I will be checking out some the other participants plans for more ideas tomorrow here.   Hope it turns out as good as last time!

Freezer cooking and menu planning have made my life so much easier in the past  month, not to mention saved me even more money than couponing alone!  Notice, I've chosen meat that is on sale for a good price right now.  If I decide to partake in the Betty Crocker promo I can use the OYNO catalina to get my burger for an even better deal (still on the fence about it).  I really won't need many other ingredients because I bought a decent stockpile of spaghetti  sauce when it was rock bottom cheap about a couple months ago.  I  also have lots of pasta that I've gotten for FREE using Albertsons doublers.  The goal is to plan my menu based on what I have already and what's on sale so that I can save both time and money!

My Wags Run & More

Yesterday I made a quick trip to Walgreens to use my register rewards that were about to expire.  The deals aren't as great as in previous weeks, but I did manage to roll them for a few more.  Unfortunately, I couldn't find the RR  from the men's dove for $6! This happens to me occasionally to me still.

Venus Embrace Razor: $8.99
Used $2/1 from 2/7 PG
Earned a $4 register reward

Goody Elastic Bands: $2.99
Earned a $2 register reward

Arizona Tea: $1 each, B1G1 Free
(I needed a filler.  I probably could have found something cheaper, but I was thirsty and my oldest daughter loves these.)

Used $8 in register rewards from a few weeks ago
Paid $4.16 with tax and earned $6 in register rewards

I also hit Fred Meyer for some Citre Shine.  I had to go to Mill Creek, because they were out in Bothell, but I was in dire need of more shampoo.

Citre Shine: $1.99 each
Use (8) MF coupons hanging next to the product: 49¢ each!

Gerber Cereal: $1.14 on sale

Four: $1.49 on sale

Paid $8.01

(Seeds not part of my grocery budget, but at least they were 40% off!)

I also stopped by Fred Meyer today to get some Country Oven Bread, on sale for $1.25 each with coupon, because I didn't realize I was almost out.  I spotted some gals while there who were using coupon binders, so I had to say "hi".  They said they were new to couponing, but already saving a ton of money.  I asked their advice on their coupon organization system and shared a few tips of my own.  It's always great to run into fellow couponers!  I wish them well!

Using Paper & eCoupons Together Fred Meyer: Official Policy?

I emailed Fred Meyer a while ago to get some clarification on eCoupons, specifically on if you can use both a manufacturer paper coupon in addition to an eCoupon.  This was their response:

Electronic coupons are manufacturer coupons, not store coupons. You can only use one manufacturer coupon per purchase, so you cannot combine paper and electronic coupons for the same purchase. As the electronic coupon will come off automatically, I would advocate not offering a paper coupon for any item for which you have loaded an electronic coupon.

I'm kind of disappointed, but in light of this response I won't be matching up eCoupons and paper coupons.  I haven't been able to locate a written policy on this though, so I don't know how official it is.  I've never run into a problem using both, but I don't feel comfortable if they frown upon it.  I just wish they were a little more forthcoming about what their actual policy is!

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Citre Shine Shampoo for 49¢ at Fred Meyer

Citre Shine Shampoo & Conditioner 13.5 oz bottles are currently on sale for $1.99 each at Fred Meyer.  There are orange hangtag coupons on the shelf next to them for $1.50 off one.  You will pay only 49¢ out of pocket for each bottle!

Just make sure to have a coupon for every bottle that you plan to purchase.  If your store has run out because this is such a hot deal, make sure to ask for a rain-check.  The coupon expires on 2/27, so you will need to check back this week.  Most stores get bi-weekly shipments according to my cashier today.

 Thanks reader Massina!

Menu Plan Monday 2/22

Are you doing menu planning?  I didn't do one last week, so it's time to get back on the band-wagon, so to say!  I love Supercook, an easy to use site that helps me plan my meals based on the food I already have in my pantry.  If you haven't visited this site yet, I recommend you check it out.  It's a fun and convenient way to help with meal planning for those of us who need a little inspiration.  You can also head over to I'm an Organization Junkie to find even more menu ideas.

Monday:  Chili and cheesey garlic biscuits.  (My hubby was just commenting on how many cans of beans and tomatoes I have stockpiled!)

Tuesday: Amanda's Cream Cheese and Rice Chicken (he also commented that I need to find a way to use up all of the cream cheese I have, so voila!)

WednesdayOven-Crisped Pork Chops (calls for Corn Flakes and lime, which I happen to have.), steamed asparagus, brown rice.

ThursdaySour Cream Chicken Enchiladas, tortilla chips and salsa

Friday:  My Birthday, so I will wait and see:)

Saturday:  Hamburgers on the good old George Foreman Grill, Baked French Fries, and veggies sticks.

Sunday:  Meat Loaf if hamburger goes on sale. (Has anyone seen a good deal?)  Mashed potatoes, and frozen corn from the freezer.

I'm not affiliated with Supercook or George Foreman Grills (but wouldn't that be nice!?)
