The Everett Herald is by far the best paper in Snohomish County for getting your weekly coupon inserts. I used to subscribe to The Seattle Times, but it no longer contains the Red Plum insert. Fortunately The Herald contains them all, including the Smart Source, General Mills,P&G Saver, and Red Plum. Of course inserts vary week to week, but if it is being released nationally you can expect it in The Herald.
Coupon Connections NW has worked out a deal with The Everett Herald to save you 75% on your subscription. You will get the daily paper, as well as 5 Sunday papers for six months delivered to your door for the low price of $50! Go HERE to get all of the details. This is a hot deal, so don't miss out!!!

Update: I just found out that many bloggers are banding together to help those in need. It is so wonderful to witness the response to this terrible crisis. For my part, my family and I will donate 50¢ to The American Red Cross for everyone who leaves a comment on this post or links up below through January 17th. Please visit Money Saving Mom to see ideas for helping those who are suffering in Haiti and for a list of more blogs you can stop by to leave a comment on.
It is so sad to witness the devastation that has happened in Haiti. As a nurse, I wish I could hop on plane and join those providing care to the injured. Of course that is not a possibility, but there are plenty of other ways to help! Amber at Coupon Connections NW is asking us to consider giving some of the money from our grocery savings to help with the relief efforts and for fellow bloggers to spread the word. Click here to access the CNN website. There you will find links to the highest rated non-profit charities that are accepting donations to help those affected by this horrible tragedy. I know Money Saving Mom also has something planned that she will be announcing tomorrow.
I am reminded once again by how blessed I truly am. I pray that God is with all of those in such desperate need in Haiti right now!
Here are some ways you can easily donate. Every little bit does help!
Donate to the American Red Cross here or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
Text "HAITI" to 90999, which will charge an additional $10 to your phone bill for the month as a donation.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by to link up or leave a comment! I am touched by all of the generosity I've seen over the past several days! We will be making our donation today, January 17th.

Print a $1 off Kettle Baked Chips coupon when you enter their sweepstakes here. You can get them for $1.50 each with this coupon right now at Fred Meyer. I'm thinking these will be good for snacking on during football playoffs!
I did several posts on the La Victoria coupons that are available at the La Victoria Rewards and Sweepstakes website. I felt comfortable doing this because in the official rules it states that “No purchase is necessary.” Apparently La Victoria considers the use of codes that are shared to be fraudulent. This is from an email that a fellow blogger posted:
"Thank you for contacting the La Victoria Rewards and Sweepstakes Promotion help center.
It is fraud, so we would greatly appreciate it if you do report it. The reason why the "no purchase" option is on the website is because we issue AMOE codes to those who request it (for sweepstakes only) via mail and they need a means to convey what their code is associated with. It is completely dishonest and we thank you for reporting this."
I have removed the posts that explained where to obtain these codes and apologize to my readers for this mistake. I believe in ethical and honest use of coupons, and would never have posted this information or used these coupons myself if I had realized they were considered fraud. If you have any of the La Victoria $4/2 coupons and obtained them using shared codes I ask you discard of them! I am sorry for any inconvenience and will always try to post deals that are legitimate by researching them to the best of my ability.
Thank You!

I have learned a few new things about eCoupons over the past several months of using them, so I've decided to update my original post and share it with all of you!
What are eCoupons?
eCoupons is just another term for paperless coupons that you load electronically over the internet to store loyalty cards.
How eCoupons Work:
There are several different sites that you can obtain eCoupons from. All of them work pretty much the same way, with only a few minor differences. After you sign up and register your store loyalty cards, and then are allowed to load those cards with coupons for various products. When you go to purchase these products at the store, the coupons are redeemed when you swipe your loyalty card.
eCoupons are especially good for people who don’t have the time to spend coupon clipping or deal seeking. For those who do, eCoupons offer the added bonus of even more savings!
General Tips for using eCoupons:
Load as many coupons as you think you will use. I have never hit a limit personally when loading eCoupons.
Give eCoupons time to load before heading to the store. Most sites recommend waiting at least one hour before attempting to redeem.
If you do coupon match-ups before shopping, make a note of what eCoupons are available on your shopping list. Printing off a complete list of eCoupons from each site wastes a lot of ink which becomes expensive.
I mentioned in my previous post that you should hold off loading eCoupons that are a lesser value than paper coupons you may have. I no longer recommend this. I have been able to use both manufacturer paper coupons and manufacturer eCoupons every time at check-out. That has made for some great deals!
Many sites have duplicate coupons. All coupons are deducted at Safeway affiliate stores when you swipe your card, even if you have duplicate coupons from different sites. At Fred Meyer, unfortunately only one loaded eCoupon will be deducted if it is a duplicate.
Here are the sites I am using:
Shortcuts: This site offers easy to load grocery coupons that you can use at both Kroger and Safeway affiliates. You will notice that there isn’t an option to load your Fred Meyer card, which is the Kroger affiliate in my area. I was able to load my Fred Meyer Card by typing in my loyalty number under the Kroger Plus store option.
Cellfire: You register with your cell phone number and year of birth, then load grocery store coupons onto your loyalty cards the same way you do with Shortcuts. Once again, both Kroger and Safeway affiliates participate. In order to load eCoupons to your Fred Meyer loyalty card you must use a zip code that has a Kroger Plus store. I had to enter a different cell phone number to register, but it worked using the Fort Worth, Texas zip code of 76137 (where my mom lives).
P&G eSaver: This site lets you load coupons for Proctor & Gamble products to Safeway affiliate loyalty cards. (They used to allow you to load Kroger cards also, but recently stopped.)
Safeway: You can load all eCoupons from the above listed sites here.
Fred Meyer: Fred Meyer has started its own eCoupon program. It is very new, but as far as I can tell, it works the same as all of the other eCoupon sites.
Upromise: You also register your store loyalty card for e-coupons on this site, but instead of taking money off your purchase, it puts the amount of the coupon into an account for college savings. I have heard mixed reviews about this site, but in my opinion every little bit helps so I am giving it a try. Please leave me a comment if you have more experience with this site!
Hope this helps anyone who is new to using eCoupons or needs a little more clarification. If you have more information about using eCoupons please share it with the rest of us by leaving a comment! :)

I am happy to be finding some great deals so that I can add to my stockpile! It really is the best way to save money on groceries and personal care items. The trick is to find items when they are really cheap and buy them in as great of quantities as your budget allows. My stockpile is not exactly where I want it to be, but it is growing! I try to spend about $10 a week on stockpiling, depending on what deals are going on. I honestly don't have a specific weekly grocery budget yet. I am just trying to become a smarter shopper and get the best deals I can find. I am staying around $300 a month though, and that works for my family. As I become a little savvier, I hope to see that amount go down even more (from about $500 a month when I began all this).
Today I got more pasta sauce and salsa. Last week I bought canned beans and canned tomatoes.
My cashier at Fred Meyer wouldn't accept my second coupon for the salsa, so I didn't get overage like I did last time, but how can I complain about free!
Albertsons:

Russet Potatoes 10#: 99¢
Used $5.50 in coupons
Total: $1.40 OOP
I also stopped by Albertsons and picked up a few items on sale through today that I missed on my last trip!

I mentioned in my Menu Plan Monday Post that I would be sharing my recipe for chicken taco salad today. This one is made with Doritos and Catalina dressing and is one of my favorites. It definitely isn't a healthy salad, but boy is it yummy!
Chicken Taco Salad Recipe:
1/2 to 3/4 bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos
1 lb of chicken breast, cooked, chopped, and chilled.
2 cans of 14 oz. kidney beans (I chill in fridge ahead of time)
1/2 a head of iceberg lettuce
1 large or 2 small tomatoes
8 to 16 oz of shredded cheddar cheese (The more the better!)
1 16oz bottle of refrigerated Catalina dressing
Directions:
Chop lettuce and tomatoes and place in a large bowl.
Rinse and drain kidney beans. Add to bowl along with chicken and cheddar cheese.
Crunch up Doritos into smaller piece and add to other ingredients.
Pour in dressing to desired amount and mix contents.
It's best if you serve it right away so that the Doritos don't get soggy. It makes about 6 servings.
Cost Breakdown:
Doritos: $1 ($1.99 at Fred Meyer recently)
Chicken Breast: $2 ($1.99 lb at Albies last week)
Kidney Beans: $1 (50¢ each at Fred Meyer last week)
Iceberg Lettuce: 50¢ (99¢ each at Fred Meyer)
Tomatoes: $1 (I used 2 Roma Tomatoes, $1.79 lb at Fred Meyer)
Cheese: $1.50 ($2.99 for 2 lb block Albies last week)
Dressing: $1.99 (I used generic Kroger brand) Total: $9 or $1.50 per serving!
This week I saved a whopping $270.89 or 75% on my groceries and personal care items! My total out of pocket was $66.32. I am still building my stockpile, which is absolutely necessary to saving money! I got lots of free salsa (here, and good through Feb. 2nd!), canned goods and cheap creamer this week. I'm a big believer in buying store brand items in order to save money too. I also love great deals, like the Kashi, when I find them! It was a great week at Walgreens to boot. Here's what I got:
Fred Meyer: Trip 1
Spent $4.53
Saved $25.88 or 85%
(Not Pictured: 3 # bag of Carrots)
Fred Meyer: Trip 2
Spent: $46.20
Saved $42.52 or 48%
The creamer was 60% off so I purchased I stocked up.
I also stocked up on some canned goods.
I saved some money on non-sale items I needed by buying the store brand.
It is really motivating to see how much I am saving and I am loving the new savings tracker I downloaded fromThe Coupon Project. I keep mentioning it because it is a really handy tool to see how all my hard work is paying off. I have already saved $254.97 this month, that's an average of 72%! Woohoo!
